Buddhist path of practice and study
The Shambhala Buddhist path is a tradition in the first place on the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism, but also elements of Zen and Theravada. The path Shambhala Buddhism presents is characterized by a strong emphasis on mindfulness awareness practice. Buddhist teachings are presented in English, and programs designed to deepen student understanding and experience of the Buddha Dharma in a progressive and systematic manner. A series of strict group practice programs ensures that students can create their own interests and commitments to develop.
The Shambhala School of Buddhist Studies presents the three yana path of Tibetan Buddhism in four cycles of practice and study. The program is both a detailed study of three revolutions of the wheel of Dharma, and the basis for further studies in the seminary Sutrayana. All courses are open to beginners and older practitioners.
What is new at the Institute of Buddhist Studies?
As a fundamental principle of moral reasoning, the Buddhist concept of karma is brilliant. With clarity and simplicity, he informed participants in the Buddhist cultures, what will happen to them in life depends on the quality of their relationships with others and what they do in life. The fact that the concept of karma to a religious tradition was transferred to another in Asia, that his first mythological foundations as to a certain extent that they are standing on their own legs weakened.
Although Western religions, moral principles, which work similarly in any case, have these concepts can not so easily cut off from their land in the mythology of the will of God, heaven and hell. This difference suggests that the karma is remarkable potential as a moral principle to contemporary world culture. To be worthy of that role, but some aspects of the concept of karma, we should think about. Evaluated in this conference, I the strengths and weaknesses of the idea of karma, and suggest how some aspects of the idea in a powerful moral and realistic approach to global society can be developed.
